Abrasive Wheels Training

This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to inspect and operate Abrasive Wheels in a safe manner.

Intended for

  • All persons who may have to change and use abrasive wheels at work.
  • Operators, Managers, Supervisors, Safety Professionals and Trades People.

Introduction

  • Abrasive wheels and abrasive wheels equipment are hazardous pieces of equipment if used incorrectly or if the wheel/disc is mounted incorrectly, and are a cause of many accidents in the workplace.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in the selection, inspection, mounting and safe use of abrasive wheels and equipment will be provided.

Knowledge

  • Abrasive wheels Regulations and their requirements
  • Hazards associated with the use of abrasive wheels
  • Causes of accidents
  • Types of abrasive wheels
  • Equipment/machine types
  • How abrasive wheels work
  • Identification of abrasive wheels as to type and speed (Marking System)
  • Inspection and testing
  • Correct mounting methods
  • Dressing methods
  • Tool/work rests
  • Use of grinders and abrasive wheel equipment

Practical Skills

  • Selection, inspection and mounting of various wheel types
  • Dressing of an abrasive wheel
  • Safe start up and use of various grinding equipment

Assessment Method

  • Written test
  • Practical assessment of all tasks undertaken

Entry Requirements

None

Course Duration

  • ½ day for inspection and mounting modules only.
  • 1 Day for complete course including safe use and operation of the equipment.

Certification

On successful completion of this course, candidates will receive a Training Certificate and Photo ID Card.

Training Locations

Training can be provided at the clients' premises or at our state of the art training centre located at Crossreagh, Mullagh, Co. Cavan, Ireland.
